Choose Your Words Wisely

Once upon a time, an old man spread rumours that his neighbour was a thief. As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later the young man was proven innocent. After being released, the man felt humiliated as he walked to his home. He sued the old man for wrongly accusing him.

In court, the old man told the Judge, “They were just comments, didn’t harm anyone.” The judge before passing sentence on the case, told the old man, “Write all the things you said about him on a piece of paper. Cut them up and on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out. Tomorrow, come back to hear the sentence.”

The next day, the judge told the old man, “Before receiving the sentence, you will have to go out and gather all the pieces of paper that you threw out yesterday.” The old man said, “ I can’t do that, the wind must have spread them and I wont know where to find them.”
The judge then replied, “the same way, simple comments may destroy the honour of a man to such an extent that one is not able to fix it. The old man realised his mistake and asked for forgiveness.”

Moral: Do not  blame anyone without knowing the fact or truth. Your words may ruin someone’s reputation without any fault of theirs.

The Ruby Thief

In the palace of Rubyland there was a ruby thief.

No one knew who he was, and the thief had everyone so fooled that the only thing known about him was that he lived in the palace, and that when you were in the palace you should always hide your jewels.

The King decided to find out who it was and he asked for help from a wise dwarf who was famed for his intelligence. The dwarf spent some days there, watching and listening, until there was another theft. The following morning the wise dwarf made all the palace inhabitants meet up together in the same room.

After inspecting them for the whole morning, and during lunch, without saying a word, the dwarf started asking them all, one by one, what they knew about the stolen jewels.
Once again, it seemed that no one had been the thief. But then, suddenly, one of the gardeners began coughing, writhing and moaning, and finally he fell to the floor.

The dwarf, with a cheeky smile, explained that the food they had just eaten was poisoned, and the only antidote for this poison was hidden inside the ruby that had been stolen the previous night.

And he explained how, some days earlier, he himself had swapped some false rubies for the genuine ones, and that he expected that only the thief would be able to save his life, since the poison was particularly quick working…

The cough and groans spread around the room and terror took hold of all present. All except one person…

A footman [servant] didn’t take long to run over to where he had hidden the jewels, from where he took the final ruby. Fortunately he would be able to open it and drink the strange liquid inside, thus saving his life. Or so he believed, because the gardener was in fact, one of the dwarf’s assistants and the poison was nothing more than a potion prepared by the little investigator to cause a few strong pains for a short while, but nothing more than that. And the footman, now found out, was arrested by the guards and taken immediately to the court.

The King, generously rewarded his wise adviser, and when he asked the dwarf what his secret was the dwarf smiled and said: I only try to get the person knowing the truth to reveal that truth.

"And who knew it? If the thief had deceived everyone…", said the king

No, your majesty, not everyone. Anyone can deceive everyone, but no one can deceive themselves.

The End

The Wise Judge

Two women were brought before the king. Both these women had a quarrel over a single baby. Each woman was saying that she was the baby’s mother.

One lady said, “Oh king! I am the baby’s mother”.

The other lady said, “Oh King! Do not believe her, She is not the mother. I am the mother of the child.”

The King was confused. After a deep thought he said, “Cut the baby into two and give one part to each mother”. One woman was silent. The other cried “Oh King! Let she have the baby. Let the baby live”. The King gave the child to the crying mother.

Moral: Truth Always Triumphs.

Foolish Monkeys

Before several centuries, there was a very large, dense and dark forest. A group of monkeys arrived at the forest. It was winter season and the monkeys struggled hard to survive the freezing cold nights. They were hunting for fire to get warm.

One night, they saw a firefly and considered it a dab of fire. All the monkey in the group shouted ‘fire, fire, fire yeah we got fire’.

A couple of monkeys tried to catch the firefly and it escaped. They were sad as they could not catch the fire. They were talking to themselves that they couldn’t live in the cold if they didn’t get the fire.

The next night, again they saw many fireflies. After several attempts, the monkeys caught a few fireflies. They put the fireflies in a hole dug in the land and tried to blow the flies.
The blew the flies very hard without knowing the fact that they were flies. An owl was watching the activities of the monkeys. The owl reached the monkey and told them, “Hey old owl you don’t know anything about how to make fire. Don’t disturb us.”

The Owl warned the monkeys again and asked them to stop their foolish act. “Monkeys, you cannot make fire from the flies, please hear my words.”

The monkey tried to make fire from the flies. The Owl told them to stop acting foolish. “ You are struggling so much, go take your shelter in a nearby cave. You can save yourself from the freezing cold.” The monkeys shouted at the Owl and it left. The monkeys were so foolish and repeating the same activity upto mid night. They got very tired and realized that the words of Owl were correct and they were trying to blow a fly and not a fire.

They then sheltered themselves at the cave and escaped from the cold.

We may go wrong many times and should seek and accept the advice or suggestions given by others.

The young girl understood his hunger through his eyes and offered him milk in huge glass. With astonished look he drank the milk very slowly. And asked how much I owe you for this milk?

The girl replied “I don’t accept anything for kindness.” With big smile in his face, the boy thanked the girl from the bottom of his heart and left the place.

Years passed by. The young girl fell ill and was diagnosed with the rarest kind of nervous condition, which was a complicated condition to treat. While many experience doctors baffled at her condition, she was taken to a big hospital to study about her condition.

As he entered her room, Dr. Madhav, immediately identified who that woman was. With all his efforts and knowledge, Dr. Madhav battled hardly with the disease for weeks and months. At last, he won over the disease and the woman was completely cured. Every one praised the doctor, while the woman was quite afraid about the hospital bill as she could not afford to pay.

Dr. Madhav asked the hospital to send the bill to him as he would add his charged. After receiving the hospital bill, he wrote a note and sent it to her. With lots of fear, she opened the bill and had no idea how much she was charged.

Her eyes filled with tears and happiness once she opened the bill. She found the bill cancelled and that was not the reason for her happiness. The little note beneath it was “ I don’t accept anything for kindness”.

The Foolish Donkey

A salt seller used to carry the salt bag on his donkey to the market every day. On the way they had to cross a stream. One day the donkey suddenly tumbled down the stream and salt bag also fell into the water. The salt dissolved in the water and hence the bag became very light to carry. The donkey was happy.

Then the donkey started to play the same trick every day. The salt seller came to understand the trick and decided to teach a lesson to it. The next day he loaded a cotton bag on the donkey. Again it played the same trick hoping that the cotton bag would be still lighter.

But the dampened cotton became very heavy to carry and it suffered much. It learnt a lesson. Afterwards it did not play the trick and the seller was happy.

The Farmer And His Sons

The Farmer And His Sons

The Farmer And His Sons
A farmer had five sons. They were strong and hardworking.

But they always quarreled with one another. Sometimes, they even fought. The farmer wanted his sons to stop quarreling and fighting. He wanted them to live in peace.

Plain words of advice or scolding did not have much effect on these young people.

The farmer always thought what to do to keep his sons united. One day he found an answer to the problem. So he called all his sons together. He showed them a bundle of sticks and said, “I want any of you to break these sticks without separating them from the bundle.”

Each of the five sons tried one by one. They used their full strength and skill. But non of them could break the sticks. Then the old man separated the sticks and gave each of them just a single stick to break. They broke the sticks easily.

The farmer said, “ A single stick by itself is weak. It is strong as long as it is tied up in a bundle. Likewise, you will be strong if you are united. You will be weak if you are divided.”

Moral: United we stand, Divided we fall
